Learning Hope from the Sun

Now, I don’t think I really need to explain the sun’s energy in divination, it’s pretty straightforward. In Runes it’s represented by Sowilo, in Tarot, it is named quite literally The Sun (the deck above is Finnish). However, I did come across a juicy tidbit recently that I wanted to share…

Over the past year or so the Greek symbol Sigma has cropped up more and more in vision for me and it had me puzzled for quite some time.

Recently, when I looked into it, I actually found that Sigma formed the basis for the development of Sowilo in the Elder Futhark (the version of the runic alphabet I use). So to me it carries a similar energy, though I don’t fully understand all its layers yet.

Though I hope to delve into it more over time. There’s that word again… hope.

It’s a powerful one.

Kenaz: Our Torch in the Dark

At first glance, Kenaz is a straightforward rune, it represents the torch, bringing light to the dark and illuminating all we need to see. If you imagine the shape of Kenaz to be the light beam, you can picture a little handle behind it, forming a modern day flashlight.

Ken is knowledge ‘to know’, distinguishing what is real from the false light.

As I sat with its energy a little more, the words became clear:

Illuminate. Shine. Don’t try to be something you’re not. Creation comes from the earth, the air, the source. Nourished by the light, nurtured by the sun. True growth isn’t always clear until the path ends. A choice is forced.

I believe we all have one overarching path in life (I tend to follow numerology on that one, Life Path 7 here) and then as we go through life we’re presented with options, the path splits off in various directions. Now sometimes (quite often actually) the path gets muddied by other people’s expectations, influences, ideas, and they’re not always aligned with what we truly want.

Ehwaz: The Rune of 2026

Runes, and I believe all symbols, carry a deeply layered energy.

Ehwaz. The rune of partnership, of collaboration, the twin energy. As I felt into it, it started to become clearer. Ehwaz is the rune of the horse. And, we are entering the year of the Fire Horse in Chinese Astrology (or at least preparing to come Feb 16th).

Huh. Interesting.

Ehwaz, is also the 19th rune, and in numerology, we would add those digits together 1 + 9 = 10 and then reduce down to a single digit, which in this case, becomes 1. This in fact is the same numerology as that of the universal year, 2026 is a 10/1 in numerology.
